A) Translate:
१. यदि गच्छसि गच्छ त्वम् । अहं न गमिष्यामि ॥ १ ॥
If you want to go, then go! I will not go.
२. आर्य प्रेक्षस्व मे परिभवम् ॥ २ ॥
Noble one, behold my humiliation!
३. भो राम यदि मया गन्तव्यं तदैषा कन्यापि मम सहायिनी भवतु ॥ ३ ॥
Lord Rāma, if I must go, then let this girl be my companion.
४. आर्ये तिष्ठ तिष्ठ । न त्वया भेतव्यम् ॥ ४ ॥
Madam, stay, stay. You need not be afraid.
५. प्रसीदत्वार्यः ॥ ५ ॥
Calm yourself, noble lord!
६. आर्ये स्वागतं ते ॥ ६ ॥
Welcome, madam!
७. आज्ञापयत्वार्यः किं मया क्रियतामिति ॥ ७ ॥
Noble lord, please command what I should do.
८. युद्धाय युज्यस्व नैवं पापमवाप्स्यसि ॥ ८ ॥
Arm yourself for battle, so that no harm will befall you.
९. कस्मात्त्वं भीतः । प्रतिवचनम् : तस्य रामस्य गुणेभ्यः । प्रष्टा : के तस्य गुणा यस्य गृहं प्रविश्याशितव्यमपि नास्ति ॥ ९ ॥
Question: "What do you fear?" Answer: "The merits of this Rāma." Questioner: "What kind of merits are these of a man, in whose house there is nothing to eat when one enters?"
१०. तवैव हस्ते शस्त्रं तिष्ठतु ॥ १० ॥
Let the sword remain in your hand!
११. भवति न ते परिभवस्तत्रभवतो रामस्य निवेदयितव्यः ॥ ११ ॥
Madam, your humiliation should not be reported to Lord Rāma.
Translations into Sanskrit (Imperative)
B) Translate into Sanskrit using the imperative:
१. भ्रियै ॥ १ ॥
I wish to be obtained.
२. तुष्यतु ॥ २ ॥
He should be satisfied.
३. ह्वयाम ॥ ३ ॥
We wish to call.
४. तुभ्यं नमानि । (Or: नमानि ते ॥ ४ ॥)
I wish to bow to you.
५. एतत्कर्म क्रियताम् ॥ ५ ॥
This deed should be done.
६. भवता सुप्यताम् ॥ ६ ॥
They should sleep. (Passive construction)
७. पुत्र धने यतस्व ॥ ७ ॥ (Or: ... धनं / धनाय ...)
My son, strive for wealth!
८. अध्ययनमारभध्वम् ॥ ८ ॥
Begin the study!

१२. काशीं पद्यामहै ॥ १२ ॥
We wish to go to Benares.

They should worship the gods as sacrifice-lords.

१५. पुत्रा मे जायन्ताम् ॥ १५ ॥
Sons should be born to me!
१६. तुभ्यं मे गृहं दिशानि ॥ १६ ॥
I wish to show you my house.
१७. मत्प्रव्रज ॥ १७ ॥
Go away from me!
१८. मुच्यताम् ॥ १८ ॥
Let him be freed!
१९. तव भार्यां रक्षाणि ॥ १९ ॥
I will protect your wife.
२०. शत्रो म्रियस्व ॥ २० ॥
Die, enemy!
२१. युध्यध्वम् ॥ २१ ॥
Fight!
२२. आज्ञापयन्तु ॥ २२ ॥
Let them command.
२३. तव गृहे वसाम ॥ २३ ॥
We want to live in your house.
२४. एवं भवतु ॥ २४ ॥
So let it be done!
२५. अश्वं तुद ॥ २५ ॥
Strike the horse!
२६. भ्रमन्तु ॥ २६ ॥
Let them wander about.
२७. माद्यत ॥ २७ ॥
Intoxicate yourselves!
२८. अश्वो भारं कर्षतु ॥ २८ ॥
Let the horse pull the load.
२९. लोकान्कल्पयाम ॥ २९ ॥
We want to order the worlds.
३०. पानं पिब ॥ ३० ॥
Drink the draught!
३१. मन्यस्व ॥ ३१ ॥
Think!
३२. जीयन्ताम् ॥ ३२ ॥
Let them be conquered!
३३. त्वया नीयामहै ॥ ३३ ॥
We want to be led by you.
३४. सुखाय भवतात् ॥ ३४ ॥
