Some verbs can govern a double accusative object (dvitīyā): the accusative of the person and the accusative of the matter.
Siia kuuluvad:
Kõne tegusõnad: kellelegi (akusatiiv) millestki (akusatiiv) rääkima; kellelegi (akusatiiv) midagi (akusatiiv) ütlema
Küsimise tegusõnad: kelleltki (akusatiiv) midagi (akusatiiv) küsima
Õpetamise tegusõnad: kellelegi (akusatiiv) midagi (akusatiiv) õpetama
mõned muud tegusõnad, mille puhul see on sõnaloendites märgitud
If such a construction is put into the passive, the person (the one being asked, etc.) is put into the nominative (prathamā), while the matter (about which the question is asked, etc.) remains in the accusative.
z.B. rāmo brāhmaṇaṃ dharmaṃ pṛcchati = रामो ब्राह्मणं धर्मं पृच्छति = „Rāma fragt den Brahmanen nach dem Dharma.“
» Passiv: rāmeṇa brāhmaṇo dharmaṃ pṛcchyate = रामेण ब्राह्मणो धर्मं पृच्छयते
This rule applies only when both person and matter are objects. If a matter is the only object, it stands in the nominative (prathamā) according to the basic scheme of the passive sentence:
z.B. rāmo dharmaṃ pṛcchati = रामो धर्मं पृच्छति = „Rāma fragt nach dem Dharma.“
» Passiv: rāmeṇa dharmaḥ pṛcchyate = रामेण धर्मः पृच्छयते
