Translate the following proverbs and learn them by heart:

निचो वदति न कुरुते वदति न साधुः करोत्येव ॥१॥
A low person does not speak and act; a good person does not speak, but acts.

शीलं नरस्य भूषणम् ॥२॥
Virtue is the ornament of man.

सत्येन जनानां सुखं भवति ॥३॥
Through truth, people attain happiness.

२. यज्ञस्याग्निनान्नं दग्धम् ।
The sacrificial fire has burned the food.

३. बुद्धः स्तयस्य बुद्ध्या मुक्तः ।
Buddha was liberated through the knowledge of truth.

४. अधर्मो ऽनृतस्य वदनमित्यृषयो वदन्ति ।
The Vedic sages say that speaking untruth is wrong.

५. नरा देवानां यज्ञैर्न मुच्यन्ते ।
People are not liberated through sacrifices to the gods.

६. बलवन्तः क्षत्रियाः शत्रूणां धनवन्ति नगराणि जयन्ति ।
The powerful Kṣatriyas conquer the rich cities of the enemies.

७. कवेरुक्तिं शृण्वन्ति ।
They hear the verse of the poet.

The poet recounts the deed of the goddess.

९. द्विजाः पशोर्लाभमिच्छन्ति ।
The twice-born desire to obtain cattle.
